Able Volunteer Programs

Corporate volunteering

We offer a diverse range of projects to all corporate organisations that may be looking for a day out of the office. Projects include gardening and general maintenance of one of Able Australia’s many supported accommodation houses which are located around the city. We also offer projects that utilise your professional skills such as graphic design, photography, research and office support.

Companionship volunteering

For volunteers who would like to be a friend to an individual in need of support. You may like to help with shopping, exercises such as walking or swimming, outings to the park or just having a cup of tea and a chat!

Disability support volunteer

Volunteers are needed in our day centers to support staff and clients with daily activities. You will have the opportunity to assist with the different programs that are run through the centre such as music and art therapy, physiotherapy, massage and outings around the city. This position is perfect for anyone wanting to experience a range of programs aimed at people with multiple disabilities or anyone wanting experience working with people with multiple disabilities.

Deafblind recreation program volunteers

Volunteers with Auslan skills are needed for interpreting and support to Deafblind people when they attend monthly outings as part of the Able recreation program. Volunteering with the Deafblind community is a great way to meet new friends, practice your Auslan skills and develop an in depth knowledge of deafblindness.

Office support

Volunteers are needed in the Able Australia head office to help with fundraising, mail campaigns and data entry. Becoming a volunteer in our office is a great way to improve your administration skills, work with an enthusiastic and dynamic team, and make new friends!

Events

Able Australia needs volunteers for helping run our exciting events. The Australia Charity Wine Auction, Deafblind Awareness Week, the Ableart Exhibition and Able’s Day on the Bay are just a few of the fun and exciting days that you could help out on.
