Able Australia Rallies Behind the NDIS

Able Australia staff and clients showed their support for the NDIS at the rally in Federation Square.

Able Australia clients and staff showed their support for the NDIS at the rally held at Federation Square on Monday April 30. The rally was part of a national campaign that brought together thousands of people with a common purpose, to show support for a National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The NDIS aims to provide people with a disability the support they need to become an active member of the community and reach their full potential. It is also an opportunity to change the way we treat people with disability in Australia.

The NDIS will support up to 10,000 people with disabilities across Australia in the first year, and 20,000 people by 2014. The initiative has support from both sides politics, with politicians recognising the critical need for extra funding in the disability sector.

A big thank you to the Victorian Deafblind Advocacy Committee Group for the support they provided our staff and clients in publicising the event, and for the work they do on behalf of the deafblind community.
