Deafblind Awareness Training

This informative and fun training session is an ideal educational opportunity for disability support workers, Auslan student interpreters, Auslan users or anyone who works or lives with a person with deafblindness.
 
Deafblind Awareness Training offers a fascinating insight into the world of deafblindness and the difficulties faced by people living with combined sight and hearing loss. The course content includes:
• What is deafblindness?
• Impact of deafblindness
• Communication strategies
• Deafblind fingerspelling
• Communication devices
• Sighted guide techniques
 
Throughout the session you will have an opportunity to experience the deafblind world for yourself and discover how deafblind people navigate their way around their environment and manage daily tasks such as making coffee, sandwiches and more.
