Our new state-of-the-art residential facility in Bonbeach has been officially opened by our patron, Peter Hitchener and CEO Celestine Hare.
The opening of the new purpose built house was attended by a number of people including the chairperson of the Able Australia board, Kay Collard, Regional Manager Disability Services Southern Metropolitan Region Department of Human Services, John Grey, as well as a number of Able Australia clients, families and staff. The new facility will be home to five people with a range of intellectual and physical disabilities and has been largely funded by Able Australia. The house has been designed to maximise the use of space of the block and ensure the residents have their own space, as well as creating inviting communal spaces. The property was bequeathed to Able Australia by the Simmonds sisters who were life-long supporters of the organisation. The property was formerly used as a respite centre and a home for young people with high needs disabilities. |
