The auction attracts donations from a great cross section of wineries and is a terrific opportunity for wine buffs to choose from the very best Australia’s winemakers have to offer. Major auction items include wines from Immerse Winery, Mount Gisborne Wines, Mount Charlie Winery, Witchmount Estate, Elderton Wines, Sylvan Springs, Mt William Winery, Grant Burge, Bunnamagoo Estate, and Serafino Wines.

The event will also offer exclusive and experiential packages to the highest bidder. Bid for a $1000 gift voucher to Artist Photographer, a $1000 fashion  outfit to Chitra’s Closet in Brunswick, overnight accommodation at Rupertswood Mansion to the value of $500, and Australia Ballet tickets and signed book to the value of $600 just to name a few.

Able Australia’s Events Coordinator and wine critic Gary Daly has played a key role in the organising this charity event and believes it has become one of the biggest and best charity wine auctions in the country. “Already we have a fantastic line up of Australian wineries contributing some truly special releases as well as an exciting selection from boutique wineries, making this year’s event extremely appealing.”

“The auction is a great way to raise awareness for people living with combined vision and hearing loss, as they often have highly developed senses of smell and taste,” Gary said.

Last year, the highest bid for a bottle of wine was $3,500 for the 2005 Mount Mary Imperial Quintet.  The Australian Charity Wine Auction is hoping to hit its $50,000 target for this year’s event through the silent and live auctions.

The auction will be held during a black tie dinner in the Ballroom at Leonda by the Yarra in Melbourne. Guests can review wines from approximately 20 vineyards and make silent bids for auction lots. The event will be hosted by comedian Mark Mitchell and Stewart Langton will be the auctioneer. Tickets are strictly limited.
