Able Australia offers a range of allied health and therapeutic services to assist people living with a disability in their efforts to improve and maintain their overall wellbeing.
Each program is tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual and is flexible enough to enough to be adapted to remain in-line with the changing needs of each person.
For example, Able Australia will assist participants to consult with a dietitian or a physiotherapist if their support plan identifies a genuine need for health and wellbeing support.
Art therapy is another popular therapeutic support program as it allows participants to express themselves through visual art under the guidance of a qualified art therapist or experienced artist. Participants in Melbourne’s ableart program even have an opportunity to publicly display and sell their works of art at the annual ableart Exhibition at Federation Square.
Community-based music therapy is also available. Research has shown that music provides a range of therapeutic benefits in the areas of psychological, physiological, social, emotional and cognitive function. Able Australia’s music therapists are highly skilled musicians, are trained in behavioural sciences and are university accredited in music therapy.
Therapy can be run via group and individual sessions, program consultancy, assessment and evaluation of individual client needs and case management.
