Did you know that you can make an important contribution to the work of Able Australia by becoming a volunteer?
People from all over Australia donate their time, effort and talents to reach out to others. Without their support, many of the core programs and events that we run each year simply wouldn’t happen.
Volunteers not only help bring our events and services to life, they also help to create positive changes to the lives of the people we support.
Volunteering provides personal satisfaction, maintenance of life-long skills, opportunities to give something back to the community, develop new skills, meet new people and most importantly have fun!
How you can help
There are plenty of ways you can volunteer with Able Australia:
- Community transport – help us safely transport the people we support to and from appointments and other community activities. All you need is some time and a driver’s licence
- Deafblind Services – if you know Auslan, we need your support to communicate with people who experience deafblindness. With your interpreting assistance, we can continue the many events and activities we run for the deafblind community
- Assisting people with a disability – get involved in one of the many community or activity-based programs we operate to ensure people with a disability are supported in a fun, safe and interactive environment
- Events/programs – help us build our brand and tell the community about the work we do by helping to plan, set /pack up and operate our major events
There are many ways staff at your organisation can become involved, whether it be getting involved in a working bee at one of our residential facilities or showing up and supporting us an activity day.
Corporate volunteering is great opportunity for staff to bond together and build on their teamwork skills while helping out a great cause! Working together to achieve these goals means a better quality of life for the people we support in the community.
You may also wish to support us by sharing your professional skills with us. We are always looking for enthusiastic people keen to assist with important tasks like graphic design, project management, fundraising, legal support and more.
